• 8 children. 1 mother and 1 grandmother underway on camels and donkeys in remote Chad. The Arabe people of Chad are thought to have originally arrived in the country in the 7th century after crossing from Egypt, through Sudan, to get there. These days they make up one of the 200+ nomadic tribal groups that criss-cross the country each day on the backs of camels, cows, donkeys and horse-drawn carriages. They are normally incredibly shy with photographers and usually dislike us being in their world. Therefore encounters like this require careful attention, handling and kindness from someone who knows them well. When Arabs migrate, their whole homes are packed up on their livestock. The youngest children and animals, along with family elders who can’t keep pace, get to ride in fairytale boxes on tops of camels. Their movements are what initially drove me to plan this expedition in Chad. I have yet to set the dates for a future visit but if you are curious to join me please message me. #ingervandyke #wildimagesphototours #chad #nomads #arabe

  • In 1890, Sirkeci Station opened its doors — and Istanbul became the grand finale of Europe’s most legendary train journey.

The Orient Express had already become a symbol of luxury travel.

By 1889, trains could finally reach Constantinople directly from Europe.

Then, in 1890, a new terminal opened at Sirkeci.

Designed by Prussian architect August Jasmund, the station combined European railway architecture with Orientalist details and quickly became one of the great gateways into Istanbul.

Imagine arriving here at the end of the 19th century.

    Porters carrying trunks.

    Horse-drawn carriages waiting outside.

Travellers stepping into Istanbul after crossing Europe by rail.

    For us, Sirkeci is historic.

For them, it was the beginning of a new age of travel.

Would you have wanted to arrive in Istanbul here in 1890?

  • Hamidiye Camii in Kırşehir, Turkiye, is a truly unique mosque unlike any other. Its interior features a ceiling painted like the sky and a carpet resembling grass, inspired by Qur’an 2:22, which describes the earth as a dwelling and the sky as a canopy.

Designed by an Azerbaijani architect, the mosque draws visitors from around the world for prayer, reflection, and admiration. Its wooden minbar is crafted to resemble tree trunks, blending naturally with the overall theme. Originally built in the 1910s during the Ottoman era and named after Sultan Abdülhamid II, the mosque later fell into disrepair, was demolished, and rebuilt in 2016.

With its sky-and-garden imagery, Hamidiye Camii is often said to evoke the gardens of Paradise, making it a serene place for contemplation and worship.

  • Palestine has made history by booking a place in the third round of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers for the first time, following a goalless draw against Lebanon in Doha.

Palestine needed only a draw to progress after starting their Group I match on seven points on Thursday, and despite some harsh tactics from Lebanon, who were shown seven yellow cards, they got the result they wanted.

It will also mark the fourth consecutive time Palestine has booked their place in the AFC Asian Cup finals, to be hosted by Saudi Arabia in 2027.

Despite Israel's genocidal war on besieged Gaza, the Palestinian team has already claimed a piece of footballing history this year by making a debut appearance in the Asian Cup knockout phase.

Palestinian players have always struggled to focus on the pitch, especially since the start of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza and the deterioration of the situation in the occupied West Bank.

Many players have suffered the loss of loved ones in the blockaded enclave, while others have been unable to participate in their national team due to the harsh travel restrictions imposed on them.

  • Palestinians are marking the 57th anniversary of the Naksa, or the day of the setback — an annual observance of the 1967 Six-Day War between Israel and Arab armies.

Also known as the June War, it ended with Israel defeating the Arab armies and occupying the Palestine’s West Bank and Gaza, plus Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula and Syria’s Golan Heights.

The war ended with another massive displacement of Palestinians from their homeland following the Nakba, meaning “the Catastrophe,” in 1948, with an estimated 250,000 to 400,000 forcibly displaced.

Many UN resolutions demanding Israel’s withdrawal from the territories have failed as Israel maintains the occupation of all territories, except the Sinai Peninsula which it withdrew from in 1982 following a peace treaty with Egypt.

Israel’s current war on Gaza extends its decades-long objective of uprooting and exterminating Palestinians from their land. At least 36,550 Palestinians have been killed in the besieged enclave over nearly eight months and nearly all of the 2.2 million population has been displaced.
