The Bayraktar Kızılelma (Red Apple) is a single-engine, low-observable, carrier-capable, jet-powered unmanned combat aerial vehicle, currently in development by Turkish defense company Baykar. The aircraft is being developed as part of Project MIUS. The initial Bayraktar Kızılelma (Kızılelma-A) is subsonic. Planned variants (Kızılelma-B and Kızılelma-C) are intended to be supersonic, the latter having a twin-engined configuration. It is one of the two Turkish jet-powered stealth UCAVs along with the TAI Anka-3.

Baykar CTO Selçuk Bayraktar had initially announced that the Kızılelma was expected to make its maiden flight in 2023, adding that a jet-powered UCAV was a "12-year-long dream". The Kızılelma was able to complete its first flight ahead of the expected date, in December 2022.

Palestine’s besieged Gaza was home to 2.2 million civilians prior to Israel’s latest — and unprecedentedly brutal — onslaught, which began on October 7. But after three months of ruthless aerial attacks and a violent ground incursion, the enclave’s population has been reduced as the death toll has topped 22,700.

This means that one person out of every 100 people has been killed in Israel’s offensive.

Children, constituting almost half of the population in Gaza — a region recently described by the UN as “the most dangerous place in the world to be a child” — are bearing the brunt of the conflict, alongside women, accounting for nearly 70 percent of the casualties since October 7.

Israel has come under fire for its indiscriminate attacks, showing no apparent distinction between Hamas fighters and civilians and leaving no neighbourhood in the enclave unscathed.

Among the growing death toll are doctors, academics, journalists, artists and poets. Palestinian officials say the current numbers do not reflect the true catastrophe unfolding, with fatalities likely to be higher as thousands remain missing or trapped under rubble and thousands of others face starvation and disease.

Türkiye’s largest warship and the world’s first unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) carrier, have been delivered to the country’s navy on Monday. The move, which will bolster Turkish naval capacities, also makes it one of the few nations in the world with a domestically-built aircraft carrier. Built in Istanbul-based shipyard Sedef, the ship, named TCG Anadolu, can carry helicopters, drones, land vehicles, light warcraft, and personnel.

Speaking at the delivery ceremony on Monday in Istanbul, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said TCG Anadolu, where the largest and heaviest helicopters and drones can land and take off on, is the world’s first warship in its field. “The TCG Anadolu...is the world’s first warship in its field where UAVs can land and take off,” Erdogan said. Turkish UCAVs Bayraktar TB3 and Kizilelma drones, and light attack aircraft Hurjet, can land on and take off from the ship, Erdogan added.

The TCG Anadolu ship, produced within the scope of the Multi-Purpose Amphibious Assault Ship Project, will be able to transfer at least a battalion-sized force to the designated location with its own logistics support, without the need for home base support. TCG Anadolu will carry four mechanised, two landing craft air-cushion (LCAC), and two personnel landing vehicles (LCVP), as well as aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles. With a length of 231 metres (some 758 feet) and a width of 32 metres (105 feet), the full load displacement equals some 27,000 tonnes.

Drone art (also known as drone display or drone light show) is the use of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), usually quadcopters, with light fixtures attached to fly in a coordinated fashion. They are usually equipped with multiple LEDs and the screen is kept at night. The first drone demonstration was presented in 2012 in Linz/Austria, where Ars Electronica Futurelab first introduced SPAXELS (short for "space elements"). Demonstrations can be recreational, where drones can use flocking or swarming behavior. Drones can also be coordinated to produce images. Using this developing technology, screens were also used for advertising purposes.
