Yapının 2 mimarından biri Mimar Sinan'ın öğrencilerinden Muhammed İsa Çelebi, Kubbenin yapımından sorumlu kişi yine Mimar Sinan'ın talebelerinden İsmail Çelebi idi. İslam dünyasının en görkemli eserlerinden biri olmakla birlikte dünyanın 7 harikasından biri olarak kabul edilir. Bu efsane aşkın sahipleri Türk Babür İmparatoru Şah Cihan ve eşi Mümtaz Mahal Hanım'dır, aşklarının simgesi ise TAC MAHAL.
