Over 100 people were killed, and dozens more injured, after the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attacked the village of Wad al Noora in Sudan’s Gezira state on June 5, officials said. UNICEF Executive Director Catherina Russell said in a statement that at least 35 children were killed and 20 others injured during the attacks. On June 6, Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council accused the RSF of committing a massacre in the village and killing “a large number of innocents,” while the RSF said they attacked three camps housing elements of the army and intelligence personnel. Madani Resistance Committee, a local pro-democracy activists group, put the toll at “more than 104,” and accused the paramilitaries of looting Wad al Noura during the attacks. The war between the RSF and the Sudanese army, which broke out in April 2023, has wrecked the country as clashes spread across multiple cities and pushed its population to the brink of famine. More than 14,000 people have been killed and thousands more have been wounded, with hundreds of thousands displaced.

OIC Secretary-General Calls for Exposing the Crimes of Genocide Committed by the Israeli Occupation and Prosecuting it legally H.E. In his speech at the opening session, the Secretary-General affirmed that the horrific massacres witnessed in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, especially the #Gaza Strip, embody a model of organized terrorism, violence, and a crime of genocide committed by the Israeli occupation without political, religious, humanitarian, or legal deterrence, and call for strengthening efforts and positions to expose these crimes and prosecute the Israeli occupation legally and hold it accountable. At the beginning of his speech, the Secretary-General expressed the OIC’s appreciation to the government and people of the Republic of Türkiye for holding this special session to discuss its theme, noting Türkiye’s pioneering role in supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate national rights. Hissein Brahim Taha noted the results of the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit to discuss the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, which was held on November 11, 2023, in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its resolution to establish a media monitoring unit in the General Secretariat, which the General Secretariat launched, to document and expose Israeli crimes and violations. He indicated that this confirms the special importance that the leaders of the Member States attach to the necessity of confronting the brutal Israeli occupation attacks on the Palestinian people and its continuing attacks against journalists and media institutions in the Palestinian territories, which led to the martyrdom of at least 126 #journalists since the beginning of the genocide crime currently taking place in the Gaza Strip, in the context of its policy aimed at confiscating the truth, silencing mouths, covering up its daily crimes, and preventing their delivery to world public opinion. The Senior Officials’ meeting preparatory for this extraordinary session was held earlier in the morning to discuss the Draft Agenda, Work Program, Report, and Final Communique to be submitted to the ministerial meeting of the session for approval.

"Children in Gaza are caught in a nightmare that worsens with every passing day," UNICEF executive director Catherine Russell said on January 5, warning that more than 1.1 million children are threatened by intensifying conflict, malnutrition and disease in Palestine’s Gaza. Israel's war on besieged Gaza has killed at least 22,600 Palestinians and has wounded more than 57,910 others, according to Gaza’s health authorities.

The Israeli army reportedly used bulldozers to bury Palestinians alive, concluding a week long siege on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza. Anas al Sharif, an Al Jazeera journalist, entered the hospital after the Israeli forces withdrew and released a statement on the social media platform X, saying: "Dozens of displaced people, patients and injured people were buried while they were still alive." Eyewitnesses also corroborated the story, saying that Israeli vehicles turned the garden and parking area of ​​the hospital upside down, targeted the hospital building with artillery shells and destroyed the tents in the hospital garden with people still in them. A group of doctors organised a silent march in several cities across Türkiye to protest Israel’s deadly offensive on Palestinians in Gaza in solidarity with the Palestinian health workers in the blockaded enclave.
