Khiva, situated in western Uzbekistan along the lower Amu Darya River, dates back to the 4th century and was an essential city on the Central Asian segment of the Silk Road. The ancient city comprises over 50 historical and cultural relics and buildings. Under the BRI, China and Uzbekistan agreed to collaborate on preserving and renovating the ancient city of Khiva in 2014.
