More than 1,000 children had already been killed in Palestine’s Gaza by Israeli air strikes since October 7, when Israel began bombarding Palestinians in the besieged enclave, and thousands of other children had been sheltering in various hospitals in the blockaded territory.

Then, in one fell swoop, Israel killed at least 500 people at Al Ahli Arab Hospital — mostly children — in a devastating night strike.

The number of children Israel has killed in just 12 days has surpassed the number of children killed during Russia’s assaults on Ukraine since February 2022.
