The Samsung Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race, organised by the Turkish National Olympic Committee for the 35th time, took place on August 20, 2023, against the stunning backdrop of Istanbul.

Over 2,600 athletes from over 70 countries competed on the 6.5-kilometre course.

Dutch Ambassador to Turkish capital Ankara, Joep Wijnands, also crossed Istanbul Strait, swimming from the Asian to European side.

The race was organised for the first time by the Turkish National Olympic Committee on July 23, 1989, with the support of the International Olympic Committee and the participation of 68 swimmers.
