The 800-year-old Jumma Masjid in Jalgaon, India, recently faced controversy when an unregistered organisation called “Pandavwada Sangharsh Samiti” filed a complaint, alleging that the mosque was built on top of a Hindu place of worship and should be reclaimed by state authorities. Praying was banned at the ancient mosque — which is an important place of worship for the local Muslim community — after a temporary order was issued by an official following the complaint by the right-wing organisation.
