The centuries-old ritual of the “Musaharati,” or Ramadan drummer, is revived each year with the arrival of the Islamic holy month.

Dressed in traditional attire, the drummer roams through neighbourhoods, chanting and beating his drum in melodic rhythms to wake observant Muslims for the pre-dawn suhoor (sahur) meal.
