The Ottoman love and respect for Arabs! The Ottoman called Arabs "Qavm najib al-Arab" which means the noble Arab nation. Ottomans also recognized Arabs as 'brothers in religion,' beyond any citizenship. They accepted Arab territories not as colonies but as homeland. It should also remembered that during overall Ottoman rule, Hejaz (Mecca and Medina) was given tax exemptions and the citizens of the Holy Cities were supported by Waqf properties.
