This is a clear 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 to the enemies of Ahl al-Tasawwuf meaning Awliyā’ and the people who spew filth against these noble servants and friends of Allāh that if they don’t repent before the death, a great punishment awaits them in the Hereafter.
It’s reported by Sayyidunā Abū Hurairah in Ḥadīth al-Qudsī: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said:
"Allāh, the Exalted, has said: '𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚 𝐖𝐚𝐥ī 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐞. And the most beloved thing with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawāfil (voluntary prayers or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) until I love him, (so much so that) I become his hearing with which he hears, and his sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me something, I will surely give him, and if he seeks My Protection (refuge), I will surely protect him".
— [Saḥīḥ al-Bukhārī]
It’s narrated by Sayyidunā ‘Umar al-Fārūq (may Allāh be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet ﷺ said:
“There are people from the servants of Allāh who are neither prophets nor martyrs; the prophets and martyrs will envy them on the Day of Resurrection for their rank from Allāh, the Most High.
They (the people) asked: Tell us, Messenger of Allāh, who are they? He replied: They are people who love one another for the spirit of Allāh (i.e. the Qur'ān), without having any mutual kinship and giving property to one. I swear by Allāh, their faces will glow and they will be (sitting) in (pulpits of) light. They will have no fear (on the Day) when the people will have fear, and they will not grieve when the people will grieve. He then recited the following Qur'ānic verse: ‘𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝! 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚̄𝐡 (𝐀𝐰𝐥𝐢𝐲𝐚̄’ 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚̄𝐡) 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫, 𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞.’ [Qur’ān 10:62]”
— [Sunan Abī Dāwūd 3527, Saḥīḥ]
Allāh also says regarding Ahl al-Dhikr i.e. Awliyā’ Allāh (the saints): “They are those who remember Allāh while 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬” [Qur’ān 3:191], and “𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 to the remembrance of Allāh.” [Qur’ān 39:23]
Sayyidunā ‘Alī ibn Abī Tālīb (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: “The Abdāl are in Syria, and they are 40 men. Whenever one of them dies, Allāh substitutes another in his place. By means of them, Allāh brings down the rain, gives victory over enemies, and diverts punishment from the people of Syria.”
— [Musnad Aḥmad 1:112, Saḥīḥ]
And from Sayyidunā Anas ibn Mālik (may Allāh be pleased with him): “The earth will never be empty of 40 men who are similar to the Intimate Friend of Allāh (Sayyidunā Ibrāhīm ‘alayhi-salām). By them rain falls and victory is granted. Not one of them dies except that Allāh replaces him with another.” Qatāda said, “We do not doubt that 𝐇̣𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐥-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐫ī is one of them.”
