This is the shortest route between Seattle and the Saudi city of Jeddah, on a two-dimensional surface the shortest distance is the straight line between two points, however the map is a representation of a spherical surface and on it the shortest distance cut between two points is the geodesic which is seen as a curved line when represented on a plane. 🙂
