  • Viettel Headquarters, designed by Gensler in 2020, is Located in Hanoi’s new commercial center, Viettel’s one-of-a-kind HQ is Gensler’s first headquarters office building designed and completed in Vietnam. As the hub of Vietnam’s largest telecommunications company, this unique structure stands out from a uniform cityscape. This includes an 800-seat auditorium, which serves to provide a functional event space on the premises itself. The building is designed from the inside out. Floor plates customized to an ideal depth with a series of skylights bring natural light to all working areas and reduce the need for artificial lighting. The facility also utilizes natural barriers to combat Hanoi’s tropical climate and fosters an ecological habitat within the city. Despite an abundance of natural light, horizontal louvers are installed to screen the interior from solar glare and effectively reduce solar heat gain, resulting in a smaller heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) load. The aesthetically pleasing landscape design incorporated with native plants forms the iconic green roof, which also similarly reduces heat gain throughout the day. Users can also enjoy the break-out space at the landscaped terraced roof gardens on either side of the sloping roof. Other green features include a rainwater harvesting system.

  • With ceasefire talks at a standstill, the hunger and humanitarian crises worsening across the enclave, and no end in sight to the five months of constant Israeli bombardment, the Muslim holy month of Ramadan has arrived in Palestine’s Gaza.

During Ramadan this year, many Palestinians already struggling with hunger are breaking their fast amid the rubble of demolished buildings in Gaza where food shortages – a direct result of the Israeli onslaught – have become more acutely felt with the start of Ramadan.

Even where food is available, there is little beyond canned food, and the prices of already scarce food are too high for many, in contrast to previous years when families would ordinarily break their daily fasts with feasts.

"We made no preparations to welcome Ramadan because we have been fasting for five months now," said Maha, a mother of five, who would normally have decorated her home and stocked her refrigerator with supplies for the evening iftar celebrations, when people break their fast.

Swipe to see the different iftar gatherings in Gaza throughout the years.

  • The Navruz holiday in the East is celebrated on March 21 - the day of the vernal equinox, when Nature naturally wakes up, when the day is equal to the night and with each subsequent rotation wins back a few minutes in favor of light, when a new round of renewal begins and a New solar year begins.
The origins of the Navruz holiday go back to the pre-written era of human history, when the cult of the Sun was just beginning to emerge among farmers. Navruz acquired the official status of a religious holiday of Zoroastrianism in the Achaemenid Empire around 648-330 BC.
Currently, Navruz is widely celebrated as the beginning of the New Year in Iran and Afghanistan, as a public holiday in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Albania, Iraqi Kurdistan, India, Macedonia, Turkey; and also in the south of Russia: in Tatarstan, Bashkortostan.
On this day, it is customary to set a festive table and treat all friends, neighbors and everyone you meet with "New Year's" dishes, the main of which are khalisa and sumalyak (they are prepared only once a year - on Navruz). Halisa is prepared from seven types of cereals with the addition of meat, and everything is boiled to a homogeneous mass.
And sumalak is prepared from sprouted wheat grain with the addition of flour and sugar. They begin to cook these complex dishes on the eve of the holiday. All the women of a large family, community (in modern conditions of high-rise buildings - neighbors) gather at large boilers and take turns stirring the dish all night so that it does not burn on a wood fire.
