Thousands of pairs of children's shoes were placed on Scheveningen Beach in The Hague on August 1 to commemorate children killed in Israel's attacks on Palestine's Gaza.

The installation transformed part of the beach into a memorial, with the shoes symbolising the lives lost and highlighting the humanitarian impact of Israel's genocidal war.

Participants gathered throughout the day to pay tribute to the victims and express solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Palestinian photographer Saher Alghorra has won the 2026 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news photography, recognised for his work with The New York Times documenting life and loss in Palestine’s Gaza amid Israeli genocide.

Described by Pulitzer administrator Marjorie Miller as “haunting” and “sensitive”, his images strip everything back to the bone, exposing the slow violence of starvation and the enduring scars of Israeli bombardment since October 2023.

Thousands of people gathered on Istanbul’s Galata Bridge to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The protest came as Gaza faces a deepening humanitarian crisis, with most of its healthcare system destroyed and families exposed to cold weather and flooding.

Despite an October ceasefire, conditions remain dire and aid deliveries have fallen far short of agreed levels due to Israeli restrictions.

Thousands around the world march in protest of Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on Palestine’s Gaza, which has killed more than 50,700 Palestinians and triggered a humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave.

Thousands of Palestinians from Rafah and Khan Younis were displaced on the second day of Eid al-Fitr, heading toward central Gaza and carrying only a few belongings, following “evacuation” warnings from the Israeli army.

Israel’s military on Monday issued sweeping evacuation orders covering Rafah and nearby areas, indicating it could soon launch another major ground invasion in Gaza’s south.

People and children along the migration route appeared worn out from exhaustion, with some travelled by foot or by bike, while others pushed makeshift carts loaded with belongings.

Donkey-pulled carts rolled down streets next to trucks piled high with blankets, mattresses and other household items.
